National earthquake drill and tsunami hīkoi

Great to participate in the earthquake drill today.

Earthquake

We started the drill with a whistle blow. Then we played the audio announcement loudly while we dropped, covered and held for one minute.

Tsunami

We are on the very edge of a ‘yellow’ tsunami evacuation zone so if we have an earthquake that is long or strong we need to get gone. To rehearse this we evacuated out our fire exits and walked to higher ground.

Working from home

While most of our team was in the office we had a few developers working from home. We received entertaining selfies of our devs (with pets) under tables at home.

Big thank you to the National Emergency Management Agency for organising the drill and getting so many participants. It’s good to be ready and aware of what to do.
